In a critical scenario where your cellphone battery is dead, and no other power source is available, you can use one of these cables to steal a little power from your laptop battery by plugging it into the USB port of the laptop.Multiple Connector Tips
The real ingenuity in these systems is the variety of connector tips that complete the connection to your portable device. Some connector tips provide charging capability for your portable devices, and some allow data-transfer, depending on your particular device. Often tips are available in USB Mini-B, USB Micro-B, (both of which cover many portable devices on the market) and also specific tips for iPhone, Sony, Samsung, Treo, and LG. Salt Free Seasonings Offer Help Living With a Low Sodium Diet

Salt free seasonings are the key to living with a low sodium diet. Low sodium diets do not have to be bland. You need good quality salt free seasonings. The seasonings need to be fresh with good aroma and you need a variety of them. You will be surprised how quickly you can become tired of the same flavors day in and day out, without salt.For example you wouldn’t put the same seasoning on fish that you would put on a steak. Fish is more delicate and would need a lighter seasoning whereas a steak would need a stronger seasoning blend to get enough flavor to keep it from being bland. This is not to say you couldn’t use a grilling seasoning on both. As a rule though, you will find that by using different salt free seasonings for different foods, you will achieve more flavorful results.What’s interesting is that when you cook with salt, you can pretty much use the same seasonings year in and year out on everything and you are perfectly happy. This is because you are really just getting the salt taste with very little flavor. This is what you like because this is what your taste buds are used to. Take the salt out and the food will be bland and boring as everything starts tasting the same.Learning to live on a low sodium diet or a salt free diet is about getting the salt and sodium out of your food and getting flavor in. Besides salt free seasonings, you will be adding more vegetables to your cooking, like onions, carrots, celery, bell peppers, chilies, etc. An assortment of vegetables along with your salt free seasonings will add a lot of flavor and don’t forget to use fresh garlic and you can always add some fresh herbs and freshly ground black pepper.You can also sprinkle your salt free seasonings on the food and let it sit for a while. This is a dry marinade, or rub them into the meat and this would be a dry rub. Traditionally a dry rub has salt and sugar, but this does not have to be the case. Using the dry rub technique, gives the seasonings time to get into the food and not just sit on the surface.Add a water or a little oil, (oil works better), to the seasonings and you have a paste. You can apply the paste to make a thicker layer of seasoning to the meat.You can also marinade your meats or vegetables. A marinade is really just using an acid like (wine, vinegar, or lemon juice), oil and seasoning. A marinade does not have to have salt in it, it just needs to be flavorful. A marinade helps break down the tissue, or fibers and lets the meat take in the flavors. A marinade also naturally tenderizes meats especially without salt. Salt can actually draw out moisture. Salting meat and dehydrating it is how jerky is made. This is also why many folks salt their eggplant, to draw out the moisture. You may actually notice a more tender meat or steak because you are not using salt.Note: A marinade can be used for 10 to 30 minutes or for the best results, several hours or overnight. You need to watch the marinating time when adding acid, especially fresh lemon or lime juice to fish, because these will start to cook the fish. This is what is called ceviche.By using really good salt free seasonings you’ll find a low sodium diet can be heart healthy, delicious and be a low sodium diet you can live with.

Home Sales and Contract Signings Show Spike in March

The a recent report from Washington indicates the ailing housing market is gradually recovering. This was supported by the spike in the number of home mortgage loan contracts signed in March. In another positive report, the numbers stated that the average rate on a 30-year non variable mortgage dropped to one of the lowest rates on record. This is evidence that home-buying and purchases of refinancing is still within the budget of many home buyers.Freddie Mac, the nations most notable second mortgage market, is quoted with 30 year loans being at an average of 3.88%, which is lower than the previous week rate of 3.9%. Although these rates are historically some of the lowest ever on record, February saw rates of 3.87% which is the lowest 30-year fixed home mortgage rate since these loans were initiated in the 1950s.As the most popular type of home mortgage on the market, the 30-year is also the most commonly purchased mortgage product sold by mortgage lenders. Even if home buyers knew that they could save thousands of dollars on a 15-year fixed rate mortgage, they are the second most popular at a rate o 3.12% and going even lower than the week before at 3.13%. The national average for these money saving mortgages was as low as 3.11% just a couple weeks ago.Sell my house is one of the associations in the home mortgage lending market where the National Associations of Realtors (NAR) often look to prequalify their buyers. The number of contracts being signed by buyers is a strong indicator of the pace of improvement in the housing market. Usually there is a one to two month period between signing and closing. The sales numbers will be up in one to two months following this new activity increase.

Handmade Card Ideas Using a Circle Craft Punch to Make Greeting Cards

There are so many tools, machines and other gadgets for making homemade cards that most novice paper crafters don’t know which ones to purchase first. If you don’t want to invest in an expensive computerized machine, you can start with just a hand craft punch. You’ll get your money’s worth because you can use it over and over again.One of my first card making tools was a circle punch. As I was perusing the punch aisle of my local craft store, I was looking for a shape that would serve as my focal point for many of my homemade greeting cards and one that I could use year round. There were so many shapes and sizes. There were squares, hearts, seasonal shapes like bunnies and much more. Making decent squares or rectangles by hand was doable but making handmade circles was much more difficult so I decided my first craft punch purchase was going to be a circle. I opted for the largest circle I could find at the time, about 2″ wide, because I knew it needed to be big enough so that I could add my sentiment or stamped image inside the shape yet small enough to use on smaller, homemade greeting cards.DIFFERENT IDEAS ON HOW TO USE A CIRCLE PUNCH:Tip #1 – Use a circle punch to feature your sentiment.
Using your drawing tool on your computer, select a circle shape and create circle. You can create a thin, thick or dotted line but I prefer to use a thin line. This line will serve as the border of the sentiment. The size of the circle should be a little bit smaller than the size of your craft punch. You’ll need a graphics program but you can use Microsoft Word or PowerPoint like I do for my homemade greeting cards. You’ll need to experiment a bit to get the right size but when you do, you’ll have the correct size already saved when you’re ready to make cards at a later date.
Type your sentiment inside the circle border. Experiment with different fonts that match your card theme. I like to use scripted fonts for feminine cards and simple, classic fonts for masculine card.
Print out your sentiment on printable cardstock paper and then use your circle punch to cut it out. Refer to your printer manual for the correct cardstock weight so you don’t jam up your printer. You’ll need a steady hand to center the sentiment inside the craft punch.
Once your sentiment is punched out, tape it directly onto your card. To give the circle sentiment some dimension, add foam tape onto the back before adhering it to the card.
TIP #2 – Use a circle punch to feature a sticker, stamped image or charm.
Follow the instructions from Tip #1 and create a thin or dotted circle on your computer for the border of the sentiment. Print out the circle border and then use your craft circle punch to cut it out.
Position and then adhere the circle onto your card. Select a sticker, charm, or any other embellishment that is smaller than the circle. The size of the embellishment should be one that will create a little bit of white space in between the border and embellishment. If you are stamping an image onto the circle, make sure the stamp is small enough to fit inside your circle. You can color the stamped image before or after you punch it out. If you are using glitter, punch out the circle before you add glitter.
TIP #3 – Use a large circle punch to create a frame or border around a smaller circle or scalloped circle.Another type of circle punch I like to use is the scallop circle punch. You can use it alone or combine it with a larger circle. I chose one from the same manufacturer as my large circle punch. The scallop circle punch is just a smidgen smaller than the large circle punch so it fits nicely inside the larger circle punch. Sometimes you’ll find the opposite scenario where the scallop circle is larger than the regular circle but either way, you can still apply the same techniques.
Apply the same tips as mentioned above for your scallop circle punch. Adhere a sticker, stamp an image or type your sentiment inside the scallop circle. Just make sure whatever you add will be smaller than the scallop circle punch.
After you add your sentiment or embellishment, carefully center and tape the scallop circle onto the large circle so that the larger circle frames the scallop circle and use contrasting colors for the different sized circles. Often times, manufacturers will offer different punch sizes so that you can layer them and create different effects.
Circle punches are great for making custom greeting cards because you can customize the sentiment for whatever type of handmade card you need and it’s not seasonal so you can use it all year long.
